If you’re one of the many people who shudder at the thought of visiting the dentist and having someone poke and prod around in your mouth, we can help. We’re here to tell you that not only are your fears unnecessary, but we can minimize the pain and time you’ll need to be in the dentist chair.
Easing a Child’s Fear of the Dentist
Children can often express fear when they first visit a pediatric dentist. We take special care at our practice to help young patients who suffer from fear of the dentist by educating them on the importance of professional cleanings. We use the “tell, show, do method” where we explain everything, show them, then do it. We usually make morning appointments for kids when they are less tired and cranky. We go as slow as they need us to so they’ll feel comfortable as we move through the steps necessary to keep their young teeth healthy.
Pain-free Dentist Visits for Adults
One of the biggest concerns when getting fillings or crowns is getting shots of Novocain and having to suffer through the drilling. Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as “laughing gas,” is commonly used to make dental treatment more comfortable. Inhaled through a mask, this sedation allows you to breathe in the medication and induces a state of relaxation. Local anesthetic will be given in conjunction with nitrous oxide to eliminate pain in most cases. Our Same Day Dental Crowns also minimize the number of dentists visits and there is no goopy mess from creating a temporary crown. Learn more about our CEREC Dental Crowns.
3D X-ray Images
Our 3D cone beam CT digital imaging technology is far more accurate than traditional X-rays. You experience less discomfort, as well, because the measuring device is non-invasive and doesn’t trigger a gag reflex like bitewing units can. This makes your experience much more relaxed and comfortable!
Understanding Necessary Dental Steps
At a routine dental check-up, we start by getting you familiar with the dentist and explaining the importance of cleaning your teeth. Did you know that even brushing your teeth every day and flossing doesn’t get rid of the hard stuck on tartar that can do severe damage to the teeth?
A special tool is used to scrape stuck-on tartar off of the teeth and we’ll check for any soft spots or holes then give you a great brushing and polishing to get your mouth feeling fresh.
Next, we’ll take some x- rays to ensure there are no problems happening behind the scenes. Catching cavities forming early on can save you a lot of pain and helps keep you as healthy as possible. If an issue is spotted we’ll sit and talk with you about it and a course of action you’re comfortable with will be decided. There’s never pressure and our focus is simply on helping you to stay as healthy as possible.
